Is it possible to download free voices for my Garmin nuvi sat nav ?

Can someone recommend a sat-nav that is battery powered?

Or one that your able to charge on the mains before the journey?
I only ask because bot the chargers in my Focus have broken (do not give any charge) and am planning on a long journey up north soon.
