Does anybody know of a good sat nav to use when towing a caravan because?

sat nav

i was towing my caravan home and the sat nav in its great wisdom took me through the penrith hills at 1903ft. not a good idea at all.
So is there any sat navs out there that can avoid steep hills etc.or is it better to plan with a normal map and use the sat nav as a back up.

  • Allan P says:

Try Garmion Nuvi 600. Has an option to stick to main roads only.

  • gillie says:

tom tom you ask it find the shortest route and you can programme it to avoid certain things such as the penrith hills

  • Knownow't says:

Your latter point was right…use a map to plan the route and then tell the Sat Nav to go from A to B via C,D,E etc.
Haven’t found one you can programme to avoid hills, narrow roads etc..which is why coaches keep getting stuck.

better still do us all a favour and ditch the caravan.

  • Dr David says:

Plan with the good old fashioned map, or try Google maps.

The best sat-nav I have come across is TOM TOM.

    Hope this helps
